The Ruhr Metropolis is the European Cultural capital of the year 2010, together with Istanbul and Pécs in Hungary.

On Sunday, July 18th the Autobahn A40 was closed for traffic, and 2 million people celebrated a gigantic party on the motorway.

The pictures were taken on the bicycle trip from Duisburg to Bochum.

The day finished with the 'Bochum Total' festival in Bochum, and a live perfor-mance by Eternal Tango from Luxemburg with their single 'The Golden City' - a fitting end for the day.
